The Atmore Lions Club met Oct. 1, 2025, in the Mayson Auditorium of Atmore Community Hospital.
President Joyce Petty called the meeting to order and led the Pledge of Allegiance to the American flag. Mike Von Keyserling gave the opening prayer/blessing.
Lion Joyce introduced Mike Von Keysserling as the speaker, with Lions Quest being his topic. Lion Mike did an excellent job of presenting the concept of the program to give students a second chance in life through this international Lions program.
He explained that they aim to build healthy relationships in the community and with their peers. They also learn different ways of conflict resolution. He also stressed the need for committed volunteers to help with presenting the program to the students.
Other topics for the meeting were William Station Day and the need for volunteers to work selling mops and brooms. Lions Sight will have a tent next to the Atmore Lions tent and will be doing eye screenings free of charge.
The annual food drive will be Nov. 1, from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. at Walmart. Plans are underway for the Christmas parade float.
Lions Joyce Petty, Bub Gideons, and Gregg Akins met with Pilots for Christ and made a $5,000 donation to that organization.
If you would like to become a member of the Atmore Lions Club and help us accomplish our motto, “We Serve,” meetings are held on the first and third Wednesday of each month at Atmore Community Hospital.
