The Gamma Omega Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma Society International held its Oct. 2 meeting in the fellowship hall of First Baptist Church.

President Nancy Karrick called the meeting to order, and Evelyn Bilbo gave the devotion.

The afternoon program on Camille Place was presented by Executive Director Valerie Schroeder. Schroeder gave a brief history of the facility and outlined the many activities and life skills they share with the girls who reside there.

Camille Place is a safe home for girls ages 6-19 who were victims of human trafficking. Built in 2015, it is the first such facility in Alabama.

Schroeder also reported that Samuel’s Place, a residential facility for boys, will be opening in the near future.

Chapter members presented Camille Place with a truckload of Tide Free and Clear Laundry Pods.

Pat Bonner and Connie Hetrick provided the refreshments. The next Gamma Omega meeting will be on Nov. 6, with the program being on music.
