While Atmore Christian School (ACS) students will begin the 2025-26 school term this Wednesday, Aug. 6, students at Escambia Academy (EA) and all Escambia County public schools will enjoy one more weekend of summer vacation.
According to a post on the school’s Facebook page, an orientation for parents of ACS students will take place at 7 p.m. tonight (Tuesday, Aug. 5) in the church sanctuary. Students may attend but are not required to.
Classes will resume on Monday (Aug. 11) for EA, and all county public schools — including Escambia County High, Escambia County Middle, Huxford Elementary, Rachel Patterson Elementary and A.C. Moore Primary — will also welcome students on Monday, Aug. 11.
To help increase safety in school zones, bus-loading zones and other areas where students will be present in the morning and afternoon, Alabama Law Enforcement Agency officials urge motorists to be patient, alert and prepared for the influx of youngsters.
The agency offers the following tips for drivers:
*Slow down and stay alert in school zones and residential neighborhoods.
*Watch for children walking or biking to school, especially during early morning and afternoon hours.
*Never pass a stopped school bus when its stop arm is extended and lights are flashing.
*Avoid distractions — put down the phone and focus on the road.
*Follow crossing guards’ directions and obey posted school zone speed limits.
