Alabama Law Enforcement Agency officials have released a more detailed report on an Aug. 1, two-vehicle collision that claimed the life of a Bratt, Fla. man.
Charles M. Cooper, 61, was fatally injured when the 2007 Ford Crown Victoria he was driving struck a 2023 Kenworth tractor-trailer driven by David M. Colletta, 40, of Jay, Fla., around 1:55 p.m.
Cooper was not using a seat belt at the time of the crash and was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The crash occurred on Alabama 21 near the 16-mile marker, approximately 10 miles north of Atmore.
The press release did not address the possibility that the Bratt man suffered some type of medical emergency that caused him to blow through the stop sign on Huxford Road and into the path of the 18-wheeler.
Cooper’s vehicle reportedly was lodged beneath the commercial vehicle’s trailer.
