Meth-addled Pensacola man arrested behind Popeye’s

A Pensacola, Fla. man was arrested around 9:35 a.m. August 9 after an Atmore Police Department officer checked into why the man was “pacing in circles behind Popeyes restaurant.”

As the officer approached the man, later identified as 38-year-old Julio Melendez, he noticed a vehicle parked behind the tree line.

Reports show Melendez “indicated he was connected to the vehicle and appeared to be under the influence.” A K9 officer responded to the scene and alerted on the vehicle.

A subsequent search turned up a dozen grams of methamphetamine and items used to ingest narcotics.

Melendez was booked into the county jail on one count each of possession of a controlled substance and possession of

drug paraphernalia.

He remained in jail late Tuesday afternoon, August 12.
