JIMMIE DOUGLAS DAVIS SR.

Jimmie Douglas Davis Sr., age 81, left this earth to meet his Lord and Savior on the evening of August 9, 2025. He left his earthly home with his loving family by his side.

Born on January 19, 1944, he was the “baby” of twelve children born to the late Homer J. Davis and Nellie Dove Davis. He is preceded in death by his parents and six brothers and four sisters.

A proud graduate of Ernest Ward High School, Class of 1962, He was a beloved figure in his community, known as “The Trooper” or Just Mr. Jimmie, He served his community with honor and pride for 25 Years from 1965-1990 with The Florida Highway Patrol, most of his career was spent in the North end of Escambia County.

To many, he was more than an officer, he was a friend. Jimmie never met a stranger. He always met people with a big, infectious smile and a joke to make them laugh. His absence will be felt by many, and an irreplaceable void will be in all who knew and loved him.

His greatest pride was his love for the Lord and his family and friends. He was an avid outdoorsman. Jimmie found joy in fishing and riding through the woods hunting with family, but his real love of nature was Turkey Hunting. You could find him in the woods, usually with a family member hunting that big Bird.

Jimmie leaves behind his loving wife of 62 years, Sharon Godwin Davis of Davisville, Florida, his children, Jimmie Douglas “Doug” (Jeannine) Davis Jr. of Brooksville, Florida, Brian (Susie) Davis of Walnut Hill, Karen (Frank) Jay of Atmore, Alabama, his bonus daughter, Kay Ashcraft (Brad) Cook of Daphne, Alabama He also leaves behind eight grandchildren, three great grandchildren One Brother Lawrence “Bobby” Davis of Hubbard’s Landing, Alabama.

His funeral Service was conducted on August 23, 2025 at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home Chapel. A celebration of life started at 11:00 a.m., and graveside services followed at Pine Barren Cemetery in Davisville, Florida.

Services were officiated by Pastor Ted Bridges of the Walnut Hill Baptist Church.

Fellowship and lunch followed the graveside service at Walnut Hill Baptist Church Fellowship Hall located in Walnut Hill, Florida.

Active pallbearers were his grandsons, Jason Whitfield, Travis Ashcraft, Alex Davis, John Wesley Cook, Shane Fitzgerald, and great-nephew John Davis III.

Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
