
Mr. Charles Edward Steadham, who was 86 years old, passed away on August 26, 2025, in Atmore, Alabama.
He was born on January 1, 1939, in Chumuckla, Florida, but spent the majority of his life in McCullough, Alabama. A talented brick mason, he ran his own business until his retirement.
Charles had a passion for fishing and hunting, and he enjoyed watching westerns, baseball—particularly the Atlanta Braves—and college football. Time spent with family and friends, especially his grandchildren, was something he cherished deeply.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry Clyde and Lucille Enfinger Steadham, as well as his wife Myra Jean Steadham, daughter Donna Green, two sisters Virginia McKelvin and Barbara Jean Levins, and three brothers Clyde, Carl, and Winston Steadham.
He leaves behind his sons Eric (Sherry) Steadham from Jay, Florida; Dale (Susie) Steadham from Century, Florida; and Eddie (Debbie) Steadham from Eufaula, Alabama. His daughters Sherry Dianne Campbellmond from Jay, Florida, and Shelia (James) Stinson from Eufaula, Alabama, along with fourteen grandchildren, twenty-six great-grandchildren, and four sisters Annie Ruth (Tink) Kelley, Dorothy (Tommy) Owens, Lillian (Roy) Ward, and Amelia Steadham, all from Jay, Florida, numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Funeral services will be held today (Monday, September 1, 2025) at 2:00 PM at Petty Funeral Homes, LLC. with Reverend Tim Floyd officiating. Burial will follow at Beulah Chapel Cemetery.
Visitation will be held today (Monday, September 1, 2025) from 12:00 PM until service time at 2:00 PM at Petty Funeral Homes, LLC.
Pallbearers will be Greg Steadham, Terry Kelley, Jeff Hawthorne, Bradley Bray, Jacob Brittian, and Jack Gavin. Honorary pallbearers will be Joe Jones, Kenny Watson, Rufus Godwin, Greg Cotton, Walter Porz, Tink Kelley, Bart Bray, and Ronald Carnley.
