BILLY JOE SCOTT

Billy Joe Scott, age 83, of Century, Florida, passed away peacefully on August 22, 2025.

Born on April 2, 1942, Billy Joe was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather who spent his life working hard to provide for the ones he loved.

He served proudly in the Army National Guard, a testament to his deep sense of duty and commitment. After his service, Billy Joe built a long and steady career as an industrial chemical operator, a role that reflected his strength, perseverance, and unwavering work ethic.

Billy Joe was known for his love of family, his stubborn streak, and his dependable nature. He was the kind of man who showed his love through action — always there, always working, always making sure his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren had every opportunity to thrive.

In his quieter moments, Billy Joe could often be found enjoying one of his favorite pastimes: watching Gunsmoke, a show he loved for its grit, values, and old-fashioned sense of justice.

He is survived by his loving wife, Brenda Faye Scott; daughters Phyllis (Keith) Faulk and Jo Ellen Gunn; daughters-in-law Michelle (Howard) Holley and Lana (Kenny) Fehl; grandchildren Brad (Meloney) Faulk, Stephen (Amanda) Scott, Jody Gunn, Ashley (Colby) Hinote, and Trevor (Jaiden) Scott; and great-grandchildren Abriella Scott, Madelyn Faulk, Hayden Batson, Elsa Faulk, Cade Hinote, Jagger Scott, Annalee Faulk, Stevie Grace Scott, Bellerin Faulk, Tinley Hinote, and Maverick Dorriety. He is also survived by his brother Charles Scott, along with many beloved nieces and nephews.

Billy Joe was preceded in death by his father Daniel Vinson Scott, mother Pearly Scott, sister Betty Louise Scott, brother JD Scott, and son Steve Scott, Sr.

A memorial service to celebrate Billy Joe’s life will be held on Friday, August 29, 2025, at 2:00 PM at Byrneville Community Church. All who knew and loved him are welcome to attend.

Billy Joe’s legacy lives on in the strength, love, and laughter of the family he worked so hard to build. He will be dearly missed. Go Gators!

Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
