JULIA ANN ‘JUDY’ COURTNEY

With great sadness we announce the passing of Julia Ann “Judy” Findley Courtney, who peacefully left us on August 29, 2025, at the age of 77.

Nanny, as she was known by everyone, was born on February 14, 1948, in Florida to George and Voncille Findley. She spent her entire life in the Flomaton-McCall area.

Judy attended Flomaton High School and went on to work for the Escambia County School system. After working she went on to work as a licensed respiratory therapist at Atmore Hospital. Nanny enjoyed driving the bus for the schools, and for the marching band at Flomaton on Friday nights.

Judy was a member of Friendship Freewill Baptist Church. Nanny was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She dedicated her life to caring for her family and anyone who needed her. She had a passion for horses and loved to ride. Trail rides with her husband and horse Bandit made her very happy.

Mrs. Courtney was preceded in death by her parents, George Edward and Voncille Findley; two brothers, Mr. Dale Findley and Mr. Russell Findley all of Flomaton.

She is survived by her high school sweet heart and husband of fifty-nine years, Mr. Woodrow Courtney Jr.; three daughters, Mrs. Junia (Jeff) Fischer of Pollard, Mrs. Jodie (Ricky) Lambeth of Flomaton and Mrs. Jimmie Lynn (Mike) Murphy of Daphne; eight grandchildren, Mrs. Kristin Fischer of Flomaton, Mr. Jeffrey “Bugg” Fischer of Century, Dr Thomas (Jessica) Fischer of Ft. Myers, Florida, Mr. Stephen (Amanda) Waguespack of Flomaton, Mr. Hunter Lambeth of Flomaton, Mr. Wesley (James) Parker of Holly Springs, North Carolina, Miss Mallorie Murphy (Andrew Harvelle) of Robertsdale, Mrs. Micah Lamb of Bay Minette; six great-grandchildren, Lyla Rolin, Presley, Cohen and Casen Waguespack, Ezra Parker, Louis Harvelle and another on the way; sister-in-law, Elvenia Findley, Karen Cash, Dot Brantley, and Shelia Bickley and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.

A celebration of life for Nanny will be held at Friendship Freewill Baptist on Thursday, September 4, 2025, at 6:00 p.m. Visitation will be held on Thursday September 4, 2025, from 5:00 PM until 6:00 PM.
