MARY LUCILE EDWARDS

OBITUARY

Mrs. Mary Lucile Edwards, who was 85 years old, passed away on Tuesday, September 9, 2025, in Bay Minette, Alabama, while surrounded by her loving family.

She grew up in Frisco City, Alabama, and had lived in Atmore for the last 55 years. Mrs. Edwards was a member of Unity Baptist Church, where she found community and support. Her warmth and kindness will be remembered by all who knew her.

She loved to hang out at State Line Pawn and going to the casino. Family was everything to her, and she always made sure to be ready for any outing or trip that might come up; her bags were usually packed and waiting by the door.

Going to church was an important part of her life, filling her with joy and peace. Even until about six months ago, she was still driving around, enjoying the freedom of the open road and the thrill of new experiences.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Ervin Jack and Minnie C. Goodman Hendrix; husband, Billy Joe Edwards; son, Michael Houston Edwards; grandson, Mikey Edwards.

She is survived by her loving daughters, Shelia and James Olive of Saraland, Alabama and Annette Gibbs (Larry Harrell) of Atmore, Alabama; daughter-in-law, Shenna Edwards Lambeth; four grandchildren, Christopher, Heather, Brittany and Mikayla; six great-grandchildren, Kendra, Landen, Jade, Tucker, Liam and Will; special friend, Teresa Martin.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, September 12, 2025, at Unity Baptist Church, with Reverend Josh Long officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery.

Visitation will be held on Friday, September 12, 2025, from 10 a,m, until service time at 11 a.m.

Pallbearers will be Mitchell Rolin, Ben Moye, Brittany McElroy, Sammy Lee, Danny Rolin, Frank Williams and Les Smith.

Petty Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
